An Italian startup called AirSelfie Holdings Ltd London has created a drone called "AirSelfie" which is integrated with a camera that allows it to take aerial photos and selfies directly from a phone using a dedicated app. The drone fits inside a mobile cover that comes along with it. The drone gets recharged again within thirty minutes of putting it back into the cover.

AirSelfie is made up of four powerful propellers and a 5-megapixel video camera. It is smaller than a typical smartphone and can fly vertically up to 66 feet. The device connects to the most popular smartphones, which include iPhones (6, 6s, 7 and 7 Plus), Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, and Huawei P9. The device also includes self-generated WiFi and its cell phone case is equipped with a rechargeable battery with an additional option to purchase an external power bank. Also, it has a vibration-absorber system and an in-flight stability system guarantee stable and clear images.
According to Edoardo Stroppiana, the co-founder of AirSelfie, AirSelfie has set a completely new bar for the market going beyond the selfie stick by allowing users to take pictures from all angles and height.
"Our team of 60 seasoned technology professionals and enthusiasts researched, designed and created a flying camera that exceeds all current standards," Stroppiana said.
The applications of AirSelfie include taking group selfies and photos from up to 66 feet away, taking indoor and outdoor aerial photos of unreachable subjects and locations (e.g. monuments and stadiums during sporting events), taking videos from perspectives that were formerly impossible, using the device as a monitoring camera (when the device is stationary), and using the video as a work tool (for example, time-lapse shots of company event setups).
AirSelfie comes in an Italian-designed, stylish, and lightweight (52g) aluminum case that measures 3.72 x 2.65 x 0.42 inches - smaller than a smartphone. The device can be attached to smartphones using a special cover available for iPhone and Samsung.
AirSelfie is available for pre-order via Kickstarter now for delivery in March 2017.
