Only the premium version of Apple's upcoming iPhone 8 is expected to sport OLED Display. (YouTube)
The iPhone 8 smartphone from the Cupertino tech giant Apple is going to come with an OLED display in only one premium variant due to supply constraints.
There are speculations that the OLED displays will be exclusive to only one variant of the iPhone 8, which indirectly means that there will be multiple variants again this year. Apple will be launching a total of three variants of its upcoming iPhone.

One of the three iPhone 8 variants will be a premium variant with an OLED display and other features. Meanwhile, the other two variants will sport the same traditional LCD panels used now such as those seen in the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. They will still have the same display sizes.
There are talks that there are not enough OLED displays to go around on all the variants of the iPhone 8. Apple usually gets the displays from third-party manufacturers such as LG, Sharp, Samsung, and Japan Display. Sadly, these main suppliers are not ready to produce displays at a sufficiently large capacity to make screens for all new iPhone 8 variants next year and into 2018 as well.
Samsung has an exclusive supply deal with Apple. However, the South Korean company also plans to use the OLED displays for its smartphones as well. However, it remains unclear whether Samsung will be able to fulfill the demand.
Samsung allegedly only has the potential to manufacture a million of OLED displays, which would be divided with Apple.
These flexible OLED displays for the iPhone 8 are made out of plastic instead of glass to bend and make them go from front to the sides as seen in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The iPhone 8 will also sport an all-glass back, and an edge-to-edge curved display screen with a virtual home button. It will feature an advanced wireless charging technology to charge without the need of a charging plate.
