Telegram's Telegraph app allows users to make posts anonymously. (YouTube)
Telegram, a security-focussed messaging app, recently launched an anonymous blogging platform called Telegraph. The most interesting and unique feature of this blogging application is that anyone can publish anything on the platform without signing in.
Like Us on Facebook
Telegraph is said to have striking similarities to Medium and Quip, according to Venture Beat. It comes after Facebook Messenger launched a Notes tool and Twitter integrated with the Medium blogging platform.
Telegraph is reportedly very fast and convenient to use. A post can be created on the platform in no time and with very little restrictions, needing only a title, author's name and the post body content. The posts can be optionally enriched with markdown, photos, and all sorts of other multimedia that can be embedded which include Youtube or Vimeo videos, and tweets.
The downside of Telegraph is that by not signing in to the platform, a user would not be able to track his/her past work. One needs to save the link to the post to view it later and keep the browser memory intact in order to edit it. If the cache is cleared or the platform is accessed in incognito mode or from another device, one cannot edit the post. Unfortunately, this feature can lead to a lot of fake news stories and hoaxes.
Telegram, which delivers more than 12 billion messages every day, recently hit its mark of 100 million monthly active users.
In other news, Telegram has released Instant View, a new feature similar to Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) and Facebook's Instant Articles, which was designed to improve article load times natively. It has also added a new search feature to search inside any chat by date, enabling you to quickly view previous moments you have had in the app.
According to Tech Crunch, Telegram teased that it has "something big" brewing in its "secret dungeons" which will be unveiled soon.
