Steve Huffman has apologized for editing mentions that bashed him with regards to a controversy involving Hilary Clinton. (YouTube)
Reddit CEO Steve Huffman has admitted that he edited comments meant to insult and criticize him.
Huffman, who uses "spez" as his username, thought of editing comments after being insulted saying "I messed with thenfuck u/spez comments, replacing spez with r/the_donald mods for about an hour."'

The clash started after Huffman posted "it's been a long week here trying to unwind the r/pizzagate stuff" which refers to the existing conspiracy theory involving the defeated Democratic Party candidate Hillary Clinton, campaign chairman John Podesta, a pizza parlor in Washington and a pedophile ring. The management decided to ban the "pizzagate" due to users posting the personal data of people linked with the accusation. The rumors also violated the site's terms and conditions.
Meanwhile, some users including anti-Clinton elements have noted that the ban is tantamount to censorship. Amid the heat of being insulted, Huffman wrote "as much as we try to maintain a good relationship with you all, it does get old getting called a pedophile constantly."
Huffman admitted that he altered only mentions that included insults but not the messages. He apologized for editing the comments saying that "as the CEO, I shouldn't play such games, and it's all fixed now. Our community team is pretty pissed at me, so I most assuredly won't do this again." He revealed to one user that "this was a case of me trolling the trolls for a bit."
This is not the first time a Reddit CEO has faced controversy, insults, and threats from users. Former CEO Ellen Pao was also bashed after closing popular subreddits like r/fatpeoplehate and terminating AMA handler Victoria Taylor. Huffman is a co-founder of the site in 2005. He left the company in 2010 to make his travel site Hipmunk. but returned in 2015 to replace Pao.
