Amazon has introduced a new high-tech store called "Amazon Go" where customers do not need to check out. Amazon claims that a customer would simply have to enter the store with his/her smartphone, take the products, and go!

Amazon Go, the world's most advanced shopping technology, is made possible by the same types of technologies that are used in self-driving cars, namely computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning. The customer is required to have a smartphone with the free Amazon Go app installed and an Amazon account. Then all he/she needs to do to is enter the store with the help of the app, take the products which he/she wants directly from the shelf and walk out of the store. The technology automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart. Shortly after leaving the store, Amazon would charge the customer's Amazon account and send him/her a receipt.

The Amazon store is no different from any other store except that there are no lines and thus, no checkouts, mentions Amazon on its official website.

Currently, Amazon Go is in beta phase. The first Amazon Go store is currently open only to Amazon employees. It is expected to be opened to the public in 2017. The store, which is 110,800-square feet in size, is located at 2131 7th Ave, Seattle, WA, on the corner of 7th Avenue and Blanchard Street. According to Amazon, the store is sufficiently big for busy customers to enter and exit without any hassles.

Amazon Go is expected to offer delicious ready-to-eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack options made fresh every day by on-site chefs and favorite local kitchens and bakeries. The grocery essentials range from staples like bread and milk to artisan cheeses and locally made chocolates. Customers can find both well-known brands, and some special ones that Amazon is keeping as a surprise. For a quick home-cooked dinner, one can pick up one of the chef-designed Amazon Meal Kits, with all the ingredients one needs to make a meal for two in about 30 minutes.

"Four years ago we asked ourselves: what if we could create a shopping experience with no lines and no checkout? Could we push the boundaries of computer vision and machine learning to create a store where customers could simply take what they want and go? Our answer to those questions is Amazon Go and Just Walk Out Shopping," Amazon said.
