Pandora Media has unveiled its long-awaited Spotify-rival subscription, the Pandora Premium. Like Spotify and Apple Music, the new tier will offer on-demand music subscriptions for $10 a month.
Pandora Premium will marry the best parts of Rdio, and offer subscribers on-demand and ad-free streaming and listening of songs, with support to offline access to music. But the company is aiming to leverage the product by using information gathered through the years and focus on user personalization - a service that differentiates it from Spotify and Apple Music.

Pandora Premium's personalization works as the service gathers data based on its user's listening history and likes over the years. According to TechCrunch, the data is then analyzed by the service and provides each user song suggestions based on the information gathered. It will even analyze information based on the user's search history to order the song suggestions.
While its interface is similar to Spotify's "Discover Weekly," and Apple Music's "For You" suggestions, Pandora Premium presents a playlist of personalized songs based on the user's listening history. So, instead of users digging into a preferred album weekly, the service will lay them out to the users automatically.
But by default, the Pandora Premium home screen will remain identical to the current service. All recently played stations and full collection stations are stored in the "My Music" section, while created playlists and albums are kept in one combined list. The thumbs up and thumbs down icons are still available and, according to Engadget, all songs given a thumbs-up by a user is automatically added to the generated playlist.
The timeline for Pandora Premium has not been officially announced yet. However, it is expected to hit the market around Q1 of 2017. The company will be giving its VIP users the privilege to try out the service before it is officially launched.
According to Pandora CEO Tim Westergren, Pandora Premium is the first truly premium music service that defines "premium" as personal.
