Popular first-person shooter title "Doom" has rolled out an update that adds a handful of new features to the game's multiplayer mode. The best part of the update is that it's free.
One of the most interesting additions to "Doom" is the bot support. With the latest update, players can now pit themselves against AI-controlled enemies. As of this writing, bots are only allowed in Team Deathmatch and Deathmatch game modes. The bots are limited to the original set of multiplayer maps. "Doom" developer id Software is yet to confirm whether the bots will support more complex game modes or new maps.

The update also adds a new multiplayer mode called Infernal Run, a mode that is similar to the Uplink mode in "Call of Duty." In this new multiplayer mode, players are tasked to hold onto an eyeball which must be thrown or carried into the opposing team's goal.
The new update also raises the level cap to Echelon 11 or level 50. Upon achieving this new rank, players will receive a reward in the form of the "Doom" Marine Armor or Praetor Suit. The update also patched a reported bug wherein rapid controller input causes unusually high shotgun damage.
The new Praetor Suit was made available in SnapMap, as well as a handful of new Lazarus Lab modules and other improvements.
According to GameSpot, the latest update also brought a handful of minor features like the ability to Get and Set Score, new player modifiers, single-player Compass, new animated Echo Events, and many more.
According to PC Gamer, to encourage gamers to check out the new update, "Doom" will hold a double XP event starting Dec. 7 until Dec. 12 at 9 a.m. Pacific Time. Three days after the double XP event, on Dec. 15, id Software will release the third and final DLC pack for "Doom." The DLC package will include three new maps and a new demon capable of turning invisible called Spectre Pinky.
