Microsoft has revealed its plan to roll out a new workspace chat tool that would take on industry favorite Slack. The new tool called Microsoft Teams would be part of Office 365 that includes Word, Powerpoint, and Excel.
The new tool aims to tap into users of the popular Microsoft software. The new tool would make chating with colleagues fun and easy.

One can have conversations in chat rooms, comment in threaded conversations, and engage in video chat with other users. Through this chat tool, one can also send emojis, GIFs, custom memes, and stickers besides incorporating Twitter feeds. The chat tool would also focus on bots and users can ask details about people on the team. People can also chat directly with businesses and partnerships including Alaskan Airlines to book flight tickets and startup Poncho to give lifestyle and weather updates.
Microsoft Teams would come in 18 languages and is set to be rolled out early next year. The tool aims to compete with Slack, a popular workspace chat tool that includes customers like IBM and magazine publisher Conde Nast.
Microsoft is, however, not the only one to announce a workplace chat tool. Facebook has also joined the bandwagon and unveiled its new tool called Workplace that would enable employee chat. The Microsoft Teams workplace chat tool is the company's effort to tap into the employee chat scenario after its acquisition of popular business-oriented social networking service Linkedin.
