Nearly two years after the company announced its shift towards the mobile gaming market, Japanese gaming giant Nintendo has officially launched its first game for smartphones, "Super Mario Run." Nintendo launched the game on Thursday, and it will be exclusively available on the iOS platform.
"Super Mario Run" was developed by Nintendo and DeNA Co. The gaming community has been expecting Nintendo's first-ever smartphone game ever since the company announced its plan to embrace the mobile platform in March 2015.

Following the release of "Super Mario Run," several analysts immediately voiced out concerns about some of the game's requirements. First, the game requires an internet connection, and it is not playable in offline mode. Moreover, the game costs $10 for the full version.
In a statement acquired by Bloomberg, Macquarie Securities analyst David Gibson said, "It's not like it will be Pokemon Go of 500 million downloads in two months. Nostalgic Nintendo players will almost certainly spend. But what matters is if the marginal customer says this is good, yeah, I'll spend the money."
Some tech experts have predicted that "Super Mario Run" will be a successful title, given that it is Nintendo's first foray into the mobile gaming platform. However, some are skeptical about whether the game can achieve the level of popularity that "Pokemon Go" has enjoyed.
Another important factor pointed out by some analysts is the fact that the game is exclusively released to the iOS platform. It is important to note that the Android platform accounts for about two-thirds of the world's 2.3 billion smartphone units. Nintendo said that the game would be eventually rolled out to the Android platform in 2017, without specifying the actual date.
"Super Mario Run" is a platform game that feature's Nintendo's iconic Super Mario character. The free version of the game allows users to play the first three levels. According to First Post, the full version of "Super Mario Run" costs $10 and has 24 playable levels.
