Uber has come up with the idea of adding color to its rides. Uber has now introduced glowing beacons to allow passengers to easily identify the car and the driver that he/she has booked.
beacon sits on the car windscreen of the driver and displays the color that has been selected by the passenger within the application.

The beacon feature has been rolled out by Uber in four cities as a game plan for New Year's Eve in cities like Miami, Denver and Nashville in the United States and Newcastle in England. The aim of the beacon feature is to make pick-ups easier at busy times and in busy areas when identifying the right vehicle amid other cars becomes difficult.
Uber plans to roll out the feature to more cities next year and add the dash of color and vibrancy to more cities worldwide. The feature is necessary as passengers have faced problems like climbing into the wrong cars or riding cars that are not driven by Uber drivers at all. The feature is useful to identify the right vehicle easily just from the flashing light and color of the beacon. Uber is now providing its passengers with color details and photos of the vehicle that they would ride in. This is in addition to the vehicle registration number and the photo of the driver that Uber already provides.
Passengers can also store favorite places on the application, so pick-up and drop-off become a breeze and one can even make a speedy exit from events like an office Christmas party. The passenger just has to pick the colour and the beacon in the car would help him/her identify the driver and car out of the crowd. The beacon feature is a part of new experiment that Uber is trying.
