Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has introduced an artificial intelligence system to the world. The system, which was named after a similar system featured in the "Iron Man" movies called "Jarvis," was created by Zuckerberg during his spare time.

According to Reuters, "Jarvis" is capable of playing music, turning the lights on and recognizing if to allow visitors into a home. Zuckerberg hinted on social media that the new system could lead to a new product. Furthermore, the Facebook CEO said that the system, which he created in 100 hours, was configured to his home only.

The project is the result of a personal goal that Zuckerberg set for himself this year. Google Inc and Amazon Inc compete during holiday sales for home assistants, such systems like "Jarvis" could outsell items such as drones and virtual reality headsets in the future.

Zuckerberg reported that while computers are intelligent enough to differentiate between patterns and face recognition, it is increasingly difficult to add to that body of knowledge. A lack of internet-connected devices and standards for connected devices to be able to communicate with one another were some of the challenges Zuckerberg faced, the Economic Times, reported.

"Everything I did this year -- natural language, face recognition, speech recognition and so on -- are all variants of the same fundamental pattern recognition techniques," Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook account. "Even if I spent 1,000 more hours, I probably wouldn't be able to build a system that could learn completely new skills on its own."

Zuckerberg's artificial intelligence unit can respond to text messages and voice commands. The system is also capable of attending to the door, starting a toaster, and turning on the air conditioning. Experts feel that this could be the foundations of a unique artificial intelligence system set to be released in the future.
