It appears that the rumored new set-top box that combines Netflix, over-the-air television, and Dish Sling TV service is true. Dish announced on Tuesday the company's newest creation called AirTV Player which is an Android-powered streaming device that combines internet TV, on-demand streaming, and over-the-air local channels.

The Dish AirTV Player runs on the Android TV platform, which means that users can install any apps that they want. On the other hand, the device has a set of preinstalled apps like Netflix, YouTube, and Sling TV. The Dish AirTV Player also supports streaming in 4K resolution from online services that offer UHD contents.
According to Engadget, YouTube and Netflix are two of the leading sources of 4K contents. However, users can choose to install other apps to access even more 4K content. Google Play Movies started to offer 4k UHD movies recently, and Vudu is also a good place to look for UHD content.
The AirTV Player is out in the market and costs $129 which includes a bundled over-the-air adapter. The box itself costs just $99 without the OTA adapter. Dish is also giving a $50 credit for users who are subscribed to its Sling TV service.
The OTA adapter needs to be connected to the AirTV Player to capture OTA contents. If users are not tech savvy enough to install the OTA adapter, Dish is offering AirTV Pro Install where technicians will be dispatched to setup the antenna, according to PC Mag.
The Dish AirTV Player has a remote control that supports voice search and has dedicated physical buttons for YouTube, Netflix, and Sling. There is also a locator button on the AirTV Player box which users can use when they cannot find the remote.
With the Dish AirTV Player, all over-the-air channels remain separated from the user's Sling TV subscription channels. However, all of these channels are integrated into the same channel guide making it easier for users to browse through their channel lineup.
