Lego has launched its latest educational toys targeting audiences as young as seven years old. The Lego Boost Kit is intended to prepare young minds for the advanced-level Mindstorms, which intends to teach kids basic programming and robotics.
The Lego Boost Kit is among the latest products launched at the CES 2017. It is comprised of five different smart toy models. Some of which are a cat, guitar, and a robot. The exciting part is that it includes sensors and motors which young aspiring programmers will learn from while playing, CNN reported.

Years ago, Lego launched the Mindstorms robotics kit which became part of computer science classes in different parts of the globe. Then WeDo 2.0 was launched as a robotics kit intended to be used by elementary students to learn basic tech and science in a much enjoyable way.
However, the Boost Kit is not intended for educational purpose, but rather to simply lay the groundwork, or entice the interest of younger generations to the world of coding. Lego does not promise that Boost Kit will teach coding, but the elements and concepts will be understood by the young mind, according to TechCrunch.
The extraordinary add-on to the Boost Kit is the Move Hub. It is a Lego brick with sensors that detects color, tilt, and distance. Depending on the design, the smart toys will perform specific tasks and movements. There is one form which will repeat a name back once it detects a certain voice or sound.
An app is needed to be downloaded to use 60 coding activities - which are much easier to do and understand than that of Mindstorms or WeDo since Boost is more on consumer coding than education purposes. The kit will cost $160, and it is expected to be available later this year.
