The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 made headlines in 2016 because of its exploding batteries. However, according to recent reports, the Samsung SDI batteries may not be the actual defect behind the fiasco.
The company had blamed the explosion on the Samsung SDI battery and replaced it with Amprerex ones. However, the problem persisted, leading to a second recall. Samsung has conducted a probe of the Galaxy Note 7 debacle and will announce its findings this month.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 will reportedly come with Samsung SDI batteries. There are rumors that Samsung will launch two models of the Galaxy S8: one with 2K 5.7-inch display and another with a 6.2-inch 4K screen called Galaxy S8 Plus. Both smartphones are expected to feature curved Super AMOLED displays but with no edge branding. The resolution is speculated to be at 3,840 x 2,160 with a pixel density of 806 pixels per inch (ppi). Samsung could also remove the headphone jack from the upcoming phones.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is said to offer a 27 percent performance increase and 40 percent power consumption decrease. It is expected to sport an Exynos 8895 with ARM's new Mali-G71 for its GPU or the next-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor. The phones will also come with increased RAM for better virtual reality support.
The Galaxy S8 is expected to have an intelligent AI assistant called Viv. It could also feature a touch-based power button and wireless charging technology. The Galaxy S8 is rumored to use 10nm chips with VR technology as well. The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus smartphones are likely to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2017 on Feb. 27 in Barcelona, Spain.
