Dell is retaining all the good features that the XPS 13 Developer Edition is known for. In terms of hardware, the laptop is similar to the previous model. The laptop feels strongly built and retains the sturdiness that XPS laptops are known for. The new XPS 13 Develop Edition has a 13-inch display with a max resolution of 3200 x 1800 and IPS touch support. There is also a less expensive model with a 1920 x 1080 resolution which also drops the IPS support.
The new Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition can be configured with an Intel i7 7500U Kaby Lake processor, 16GB of memory, and 512GB of SSD storage option. According to Ars Technica, this configuration will cost roughly $1,799.
The entry-level model which sports a lower resolution display, a Kaby Lake i5 processor, 128GB of SSD storage, and 8GB of memory will cost around $975.
The Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition ships with Ubuntu 16.04 preinstalled on the system. This is an interesting feature, especially for those who are using the Ubuntu Linux distro. For those who want a different Linux flavor, the XPS 13 Developer Edition works with different options including Debian, elementary, Fedora, and openSUSE, according to Network World.
The Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition comes with an essential set of ports including USB Type-C, two USB 3 ports, the standard headphone jack, and an SD card slot.
