The Nintendo Switch event last week concentrated on the company's incoming lineup of software.

There was no talk about its operating system, user interface, and other functionalities. A video game website sent some questions to Nintendo to verify some of the console's features and functions, and the Japanese gaming giant answered some of the queries, which are detailed below.

Video streaming

The Verge reported that Nintendo answered some questions asked by Kotaku. The Nintendo Switch will not support video-streaming apps like Hulu or Netflix. The company claims that its efforts are focused on making the hybrid console "an amazing video game platform." Nintendo confirmed that the feature is still "being considered for a future update."

Controller compatibility

Wii and Wii U controllers are currently not compatible with the Switch. However, "support for certain controllers" might be revisited in the future.

Region locking

The system also allows users to create up to eight accounts on a single system. Each user account can access an eShop region based on the country set for their account. This apparently confirms that the console can play games both physical and digital from different regions.

User interface and unannounced games

Additionally, a photo of the system's user interface sporting a black theme and in portable mode was posted on Twitter. The tweet has been removed, but some individuals were able to capture the photo. Gamespot points out that the image showcases games like "1001 Spikes," "The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+," and "Cave Story." It's surprising because these games were never officially announced during the Nintendo event.

The leaked image also shows some icons that obviously relate to other functions like settings, screenshots, brightness, and power. There are speculations that the system might feature different theme settings or background options. A button option to change user also suggests that the device might support multiple user profiles.

The Nintendo Switch will be officially launched on March 3, 2017. The standard bundle is expected to retail for $300.
