Latest reports suggest that Apple may be introducing group calls on FaceTime when it rolls out the next iteration of iOS, which is the iOS 11.
Israel-based tech blog The Verifier said citing "several people familiar with iOS development" that Apple plans to include the in-demand feature in FaceTime with iOS 11, which is slated to debut later this year.

"The next update, iOS 11, will include several new features, one of which is able to make a call multi-user video service FaceTime... the next update for the iOS operating system 11 will be more Update 'social' that will put an emphasis primarily on chats on iMessage and FaceTime (translated)," the blog noted.
The group calling feature, which will supposedly support up to five people, will reportedly be initiated in iDevices by updating the iMessage on the iOS platform.
FaceTime currently supports only two one-on-one calls between two devices. And Apple seems to be catching up with group conversation trend, since other video calling apps like Skype and Google Hangout have long installed such feature on their platforms.
Apple is reportedly poised to unleash its new iOS 11 and other major updates at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2017, which is scheduled this June.
Digital Trends, however, noted that in terms of Apple rumors, The Verifier is not exactly right on point and has not establish a track record of accuracy. So the rumor by far should be viewed with skepticism unless another secondary source backs the claim. Nevertheless, if the rumor is proven to be true, this will be a huge step forward for Apple.
Meanwhile, the current iOS 10 made a major overhaul on the system's iMessage app. It included stickers, emoticons, and third-party app integration with the launch of iMessage App Store. The iMessage App Store runs similar with the Apple's main stores but offers a handful of categories.
