Despite the recent Note 7 debacle, Samsung remains the top manufacturer and seller of Android smartphones in the world. The list of confirmed devices which will reportedly get the Android 7 Nougat update include the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7 Active, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, Galaxy Tab S2 (LTE unlock), Galaxy A3, and Galaxy A8.
Samsung did not provide an official timeline for when these devices will get the Android 7.0 Nougat update. However, the company has said that the update would be rolled out within the first half of 2017. There are speculations that the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active will soon follow suit. The Galaxy S7 Active recently appeared on GeekBench with the Android 7.0 operating system. This could mean that the update for the phone is already on its way.
Next in line are the Galaxy S6 and its models, the Galaxy S6 Active, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+. Samsung confirmed that it was working on the Android 7.0 Nougat firmware build for the S6 series in November last year. The Galaxy Note 5 will likely follow as Samsung's most recent flagship phablet because of the Galaxy Note 7 debacle. The Galaxy A series should take precedence alongside the Galaxy Tabs. This order could be changed depending on software development results as delays and issues could arise.
The Android Nougat will bring new features to devices, fix bugs and issues and improve overall performance. It is expected to bring a tweaked user interface with instant control toggles and space-efficient notifications. It comes with a quick switch and multi-window for excellent multitasking. There is a quick reply feature and notification bundling for a less cluttered control panel shade.
