Huawei intends to overthrow Apple and Samsung from the top spots.

Huawei was able to overthrow Xiaomi as the leading smartphone maker in China. Now, the Chinese tech firm believes that they are now ready to defeat Apple as the leading smartphone manufacturer in the world.

Xiaomi was once the biggest in China and third in the world, but Huawei's vision to become world's number one made it possible to defeat them. Now Huawei is setting eyes to overthrow Apple and Samsung - the first and second in the world.

Huawei's consumer head Richard Yu told Fortune, "We want to grow into top two market share, and, in the future, top one by 2021."During the first quarter of 2016, Huawei claims that they were able to sell smartphones tenfold in Finland compared to Apple.

According the research firm IDC, the China-based mobile phone manufacturer is currently the biggest hit on parts of Europe, taking the first position in Portugal and Netherlands, and being second in Italy, Poland, Spain, and Hungary.

But the challenge for Huawei is to invade the US market - the biggest in the world. Apple and Samsung currently owns the top positions, and Huawei falls down behind. They still are unable to budge even BLU and OnePlus - small rivals which doesn't even belong in the Top Ten.

The only deal Huawei could make to make it into the US market is to make agreements with the top four carriers, namely Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-mobile, which they currently don't have. They lack the visibility to be recognized by the majority of smartphone users.

Huawei's smartphone range is definitely top of its class and state of the art, able to compete against the likes of Samsung and Apple. However, they need to work in their marketing plans to claim the top position in the world market.

During the third quarter, Apple sold 45.5 million iPhones, while Huawei shipped 33.6 million. The gap between numbers are too great for now, but their 2021 vision will give them four more years to plan their steps to claim the top spot.
