Kyocera Corporation, a Japanese multinational electronics and ceramics manufacturer, has introduced a new smartphone which can be washed on a daily basis.
Japan is known to develop unique and innovative ideas and Kyocera has created quite an interesting smartphone. Rafre, the washable smartphone, is extremely resistant to a variety of liquids, hot or cold. This device is the successor to Kyocera's DIGNO Rafre, the world's first washable smartphone which is resistant to foaming hand soap.

Kyocera's Rafre is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera which features AINOS Engine, the company's proprietary image processing built-in application which enables users to take excellent photos in low lighting conditions. The device has Phase Detection autofocus, Auto HDR and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. Rafre runs on a high-capacity 3,000mAh battery which can last for a day.
What makes the Rafre so special is that the device lacks an earpiece speaker hole but features a Smart Sonic Receiver technology which uses vibrations to transmit sounds directly to the eardrum via bone conduction. Rafre also features dust and water resistance of IPX5 and IPX8, making the smartphone compatible with hand or body soap. With these combined features, the smartphone is indeed washable.
Kyocera's Rafre also features a hands-free cooking application that can be used without touching the device. Simple hand gestures will allow the users to scroll through recipes, set timers, or even answer calls.
The smartphone will run on the Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
The Kyocera Rafre will be available for purchase starting March 2017 exclusively in Japan. However, no information has been provided regarding on its price yet. The device will be available in several colors including pale pink, clear white, and light blue.
