Despite the criticisms to the current Apple management, CEO Tim Cook was able to bring in lots of revenues for the Cupertino-based tech giant. For the first quarter of the fiscal year, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus sold 78.3 million units during the holiday quarter of October to December 2016.

Thanks to the IP68 certification and excellent camera features, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were able to win the hearts of consumers once again. The jet black variant and the offering of up to 256GB storage capacity adds up to the sophistication and usability of the smartphone.

Originally, Apple forecasted to have 77.4 million units sold for the new flagship device, but it topped the expectations and even exceeding the iPhone sales of 74.8 million last first quarter fiscal year. The increase is estimated to be 4.7 percent.

With better marketing strategies and a much expensive release of the iPhone 7 series, Apple was able to gain $649.57 this year compared to the $691 last year. The iPhone 7 Plus had better sales during the holiday season.

According to Apple, they predict to sell up to 53.5 million iPhone units by next quarter. However, the winning streak of Apple solely depended on the iPhone line of devices. The iPad sales declined to 13 million units versus the 16.12 million sales last year. The MacBook sales also declined with the disappointment over the "lack of innovation" with the latest upgrade, even with the Touch Bar making its way to the recent units.

There are also reports that the iPhone sales in China decreased, with Oppo gaining the upper hand in their home country. Still, Apple holds most of the smartphone user population in the world, and it will take a lot before other mainstream brands like Samsung to take the top spot in the mobile phone business.
