The reason to this sudden growth was thanks to the general acceptance of plastic surgeries today. Before, people believe that undergoing plastic surgeries is a none-conservative approach of beauty regimen. But nowadays, many acknowledge that the procedure is the easiest way to feel satisfied about oneself.
In the United States, there are about 1.4 million surgical procedures in 2015, followed by Brazil with 1.2 million cases, and South Korea with 445,144, according to the research conducted by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
South Korea, though lags behind the United States and Brazil in terms of numbers, is considered to be the world's plastic surgery capital, having about 500 clinics to get a surgical procedure. Most plastic surgery cases in the country are nose lifts and eyelid alterations. As for the United States and Brazil, breast augmentation and liposuction tops body alteration cases.
Plastic surgeries in Asia Pacific are ever-increasing and is about to beat Europe for the first time in the coming four years with 12 percent growth, according to AFP.
Other non-surgical procedures like chemical peels, botox, and fat-freezing are among the safer options with short recovery time and less expense. Also, an increasing number of men are getting into the trend of plastic surgery as well, primarily wanting to undergo hair growth treatments, skin care, and penile implants.
