A former Goldman Sachs employee Brendan Alper has created an app called "Hater" which matches people based on their dislikes.
The brand new dating app, which is set to be officially launched on February 8, offers users a wide range of about 3000 topics to choose from to indicate their dislike. The topics include butt selfies, slow walkers, build the wall, Donald Trump, V-necks, Vladimir Putin, and tipping less than fifteen percent. One only needs to swipe down to hate, swipe up to love, left to dislike, and right to like.

The creator of the app, Brendan Alper, quit his job to become a comedian and conceived the idea as a joke. But later on, he realized that the idea could actually be a great real-life app and on further research, found some studies that backed his ideas.
The app matches users based on their mutual distastes, but also depends on other factors like location. The app is currently being tested in New York and has been able to garner a very positive response. According to the creators of the app, the top three most commonly hated topics so far have been the presidential elections of 2016, bad sidewalk etiquette, and drain hair. Coming to the most loved topics, my mom, the ocean, and guacamole rank on the top.
Although the app "Hater" centers around the negative emotion of hating, the app creators have continually stressed upon the fact that they are not encouraging any negative behavior.
The app, which is currently available in beta for iOS, will be available for Android in Spring.
