The Chinese electronics company Xiaomi, has been rumored to release a new "budget" mid-range smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and is most likely to be the successor of the Mi 4c.

This new device codenamed Xiaomi Meri, which is yet to be called the Mi 5c has been recently certified by China CCC Certification (3C Certificate). Photos of the said device had already been leaked from Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website, just a couple of months ago.

According to the leaked images, the Xiaomi Mi 5c sports a sleek frame with round edges quite similar to the designs which were released in the past. A fingerprint scanner is embedded under the physical home button and both volume rocker and power button are housed on the right side. Although not yet official, the device is expected to feature a 12-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel front snapper. The Mi 5c is also reported to come with a 5.5-inches Full HD display with 1080p resolution housed by a 2.5D curved glass.

This device is said to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Apparently, this device is said to run on the newest MIUI 8 operating system which is based on the Android 7.0 Nougat.

According to TechCrunch, the Mi 5c will not be making an appearance at the Mobile World Congress this month since Xiaomi will not be attending the said event. Then again, the Mi 5c has been rumored to launch ahead of the Mi 6 flagship phone and is expected to arrive around March or April.

The Xiaomi Mi 5c is expected to be available in Rose Gold, Gold and Black color variants. No information regarding the price yet but the Mi 5c is speculated to be priced between 270 to 320 US Dollar
