Disney Parks to Unveil 'Star Wars' Lands in 2019, CEO Bob Iger Confirms
Disney parks are set to unveil its largest single-theme expansion with "Star Wars" lands. CEO Bob Iger confirms it is slated to be unveiled in 2019.
Iger announced the company's plan to open Star Wars-themed lands during an investor call on Tuesday, which was also published online through Disney's DisneyParks blog post. It has been revealed that it is planned to open one at Disneyland in California, as well as another at Walt Disney World in Florida, both of which are slated to open its doors in 2019.

According to Disney, it would be the largest single-theme expansions to be built in the company's history. The California site had been unveiled to fans last April revealing a 14-acre space. The unveiling date would come just in time for the expected end of the current "Star Wars" trilogy, with "Episode IV." Disney had stated that the expansion would feature a number of the franchise's "signature attractions."
Visitors should expect a ride featuring the Millennium Falcon, which lets visitors to embark on a mission within Han Solo's cockpit bay. Disney teases that it "puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle," though it remains to be seen which scene from the movie it would depict, or a new adventure entirely.
Concept art for the theme parks were released by Disney, as one of which depicts the iconic X-Wing fighter flying over a vast, green landscape. It has been reported that the Millennium Falcon ride would feature a VR-based experience, which could very well be the same technology that would go into the X-Wing attraction.
Disney also went ahead in stating that the theme park is set to unveil a previously unseen planet, which could hint that it could make an appearance to one of the three slated "Star Wars" films.
Disney may have been relatively quiet about more details about planned attractions, but fans should wait for a little while longer for another sneak peak of the park as construction started last April.
