The Nokia 3310 was first released in 2000 as the successor of the popular Nokia 3210. It is known for its almost indestructible body and massive battery life. The modern version is also said to come as a feature phone, rather than a converted smartphone. It will be priced at around $63 USD, but it is still unknown whether the upcoming phone will be available in North America. Fans hope that it will retain the elements which allowed the phone to sell 100 million units several years ago.
Nokia has officially confirmed that it will return to the smartphones business and launch the new line this year. Nokia announced this at the Capital Markets Day event. According to reports, the upcoming Nokia Android smartphone will come with a 5.2-inch or 5.5-inch 2K QHD display, bringing it to the high-end category. Meanwhile, a new entry-level Nokia phone called Pixel has been spotted running Android 7.0.1 Nougat and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 SoC with 1 GB of RAM.
The Finnish electronics company is set to reveal the details of its new smartphone line at the Mobile World Congress in 2017 as well. HMD Global recently acquired Nokia's commercial licenses for the next 10 years, and it will appear at the MWC 2017 which will be held in Barcelona, Spain from Feb. 26 to Mar. 2.
Nokia will not manufacture the new smartphones and will only oversee the development of the new headsets with the owners of the patents and brand. HMD Global will create the phones with Foxconn doing the research, development, and manufacturing. The company was co-founded by former Nokia execs, Florian Seiche and Arto Nummela. It will spend about 200 million EUR on marketing and promotion foin r its first three years. HMD Global is looking to releasing two Nokia feature phones and, according to James Rutherfoord of Microsoft Asia, these new phones will be launched between January and June of 2017.
