The British prime minister's interest in science even led him to question the truth about life beyond Earth. According to NewYorkTimes, Churchill's interest in science first sparked during the time when he was still serving his country as an army officer.
At this point, Churchill stumbled upon Darwin's book titled "On the Origin of Species." Later on, Churchill wrote various articles about science, including topics that contemplated life on the moon and weapons of mass destruction.
Furthermore, a recent rediscovery of an old article from the former prime minister revealed his curiosity in extra terrestrial life. In the article "Are We Alone in the Universe", Winston Churchill quotes the probability of life outside our planet.
According to BBC, Churchill's article centers on the concept behind the Copernican Principle. The notion of the improbability of man being alone in a place as vast as the universe, is mostly the idea behind these Winston Churchill quotes.
The former prime minister expressed in his article that he's not "immensely impressed" about the success that our civilization is making. With that said, he is not convinced that we are the most advanced and most intelligent civilization on the entire universe.
The rediscovered Winston Churchill quotes also revealed that the prime minister's knowledge on astrology was well beyond his time. Churchill theorized that there are planets beyond our solar system, that also has its own habitable sun.
The British leader also mentioned that these planets would be of a safe distance away from their sun. This was all before planets beyond our galaxy were even discovered!
Despite the technological limitations of his time, Churchill managed to give a good idea of how life could thrive beyond our own planet. It is believed that the former prime minister's article was intended for a newspaper, although it was never published.
The draft and copies of Churchill's unpublished work remains in the Churchill Museum. The Winston Churchill quotes might make its way to the public once the Museum resolves its copyright issues.
