A possible bug has been found in the recently released role-playing game developed by Team Ninja --- "Nioh." This has resulted in the loss of a lot of saved files on the game.

Several posts have been made on NeoGAF and Reddit by players complaining that they have lost their progress in the game, according to Eurogamer.

Usually, games let players have multiple saved files for them to alter the game any way they can. However, it looks like Nioh overwrites your existing saved file when creating a new character. The worst part is, the game does not even give players a warning sign when it is set to overwrite the file.

A player named Crosseyes posted on a thread in NeoGAF that 70 to 90 hours worth of gameplay was lost because his wife decided to try the game and created her own character. When he tried to continue his character, there were two save files of his wife's new character. His previously saved file apparently was overwritten.

For now, players should be careful when creating a new character. Make sure to back up saved files to an external storage device. Several players who lost their saved files have been guided to try downloading the saved files uploaded to the cloud in PlayStation Plus. However, some have stated that this does not resolve the issue, according to GameSpot.
