Yosuke Saito, the producer of Square Enix and Platinum Game's latest action-packed video game "NieR: Automata," has said in a recent statement that the title will be released for the PlayStation 4 and PC platforms, and not for Xbox One.
The decision to cancel the release of the new installment of the NieR franchise on Microsoft's gaming console comes as it has become clear that sales of the machine in the Japanese market was not strong.

"There are currently no plans to release on this platform," Saito told Express UK. "The main reason for this is that the Japanese market for Xbox One is not strong, so the decision was made to focus on PlayStation 4 rather than to split our efforts across two platforms."
Not having an Xbox One version of "NieR: Automata" does have its plus sides, according to Saito. He stated that since they were not able to create the title for two different platforms, the company was able to focus more on the overall quality of the video game.
Xbox One users still have a glimmer of hope as Saito said that they could still release the title for the Microsoft gaming platform but that all depends on the game's success on the PS4.
The new installment is the follow-up to the action RPG, "NieR," which was released back in 2010 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and PC platforms. It featured elements of different gaming genres including hack-and-slash, dungeon-crawling, adventure, and shoot-em-up.
