Fans who are eagerly awaiting "GTA 6" might have to wait longer as its release date seems far-off. Based on the latest development update that is making the rounds online, the sixth entry in the series could see its official release happening in 2021 and there's a "GTA 5" easter egg to support this claim.

This most recent buzz emerged after a YouTube user named Itz Frolickz spotted an easter egg in "GTA 5," which might have dropped a clue from Rockstar Games on when the "GTA 6" game will be launched. He narrated that as he was exploring an airport in the game when he saw a couple of doors that have numbers 2013 and 2021 side by side.
In decoding this easter egg, he pointed out that the current title to the franchise saw its launch in 2013 and that 2021 hints at the year of the release for "GTA 6." If this is true, then it will disappoint a lot of fans.
Earlier rumors indicated that the game would possibly have a 2018 release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This was assumed to be the case given that another Rockstar's most wanted sequel, "Red Dead Redemption 2," is coming this fall season.
Nonetheless, seasoned gamers of the "GTA" franchise, who have followed the game developer's pattern, admit that a release date later than 2018 sounds more likely.
Speculations are rife that a launch window after 2018 could pave the way for game-changing features like Virtual Reality support. But this VR feature would cost Rockstar Games a whopping $300 million along with a lot of time invested in its development.
Adding this VR feature would mean a high demand for more funds to realize the project. Not to mention, Rockstar Games will also face the risk of losing their fans who may get tired of waiting for "GTA 6" for so long.
