LG G6
The LG G6 has been unveiled at the pre-MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2017 event on Feb. 26. Here is a comparison of LG G6 with its predecessors like LG G5 and LG G4 on the basis of their specs, features and price.
Design and Display
The LG G6 is the first water and dust resistant smartphone from the company. Its rear panel is made up of Gorilla Glass 5 and has a metallic frame running along its edges. It sports thinner bezels compared to its predecessors. The LG G6 measures 148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9 mm and it houses a 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen that produces a resolution of 2,880 x 1,440 pixels with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It provides a screen-to-body ratio of 78.6 percent.

The LG G5 came with a modular design that allowed users to attach various kinds of accessories such as 360 camera, pico projector and extra battery backup. It features a painted aluminum chassis that measures 149.4 x 73.9 x 7.7 mm. It is fitted with a smaller screen of 5.3 inches that produces 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution. Its screen-to-body ratio is 70.1 percent, Pocket-Lint reported.
The LG G4 flanked with a leather back and metallic frame measures 148.9 x 76.1 x 6.3-9.8 mm. It features a 5.5-inch display that supports a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and offers a screen-to-body ratio of 72.5 percent.
Chipset, RAM and Storage
The Snapdragon 821 chipset powers the LG G6 whereas the Snapdragon 820 is present under the hood of LG G5. The obsolete Snapdragon 808 powers the LG G4.
The LG G6 comes in 32 GB and 64 GB storage options with 4 GB of RAM. The LG G5 came in single storage of 32 GB along with 4 GB of RAM. The LG G4 has 32 GB native storage and 3 GB of RAM. All three smartphones have dedicated microSD card slot.
Camera, Software and Other Features
A 13-megapixel + 13-megapixel dual camera setup with laser autofocus, OIS and dual LED flash is present on the backside of LG G6. The LG G5 has a dual camera setup on its rear with 16-megapixel + 8-megapixel sensors with features like OIS, laser autofocus and single LED flash. The LG G4 has a single camera of 16-megapixel on its rear. It also comes with features such as OIS, laser autofocus and single LED flash.
The LG G4 and G5 feature 8-megapixel front-facing cameras. The South Korean company has included a frontal camera of 5-megapixel on LG G6. The LG G6 comes loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat and the LG G5 is eligible to receive the Nougat update. The latest Android version running on LG G4 is Marshmallow.
The LG G6 and G5 are enabled with USB Type-C ports whereas the older G4 has a microUSB v2.0 port. The LG G4 lacks a fingerprint scanner, but its successor feature it. Some of the unique features of LG G6 are quad DAC for immersive audio experience and wireless charging.
Battery and Price
The LG G4 has a 3,000 mAh removable battery whereas the LG G5 with its modular design came with a removable battery of 2,800 mAh. Since LG has ditched the modular concept, the LG G6 comes with a non-removable battery of 3,300 mAh capacity, Phone Arena reported.
The unlocked LG G4 is selling for around $249 to $299 on Amazon. The unlocked LG G5 is available with a pricing of about $349 to $399. The official pricing of the unlocked LG G6 has not been announced, but it is expected to cost around $649 to $749.
