According to a post from VentureBeat, "Battle Breakers" was announced at the recent Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Early images that were released presents a game that contains fantasy, science fiction, and cartoon elements packed into one title.
It is also reported that Epic Games is making this game with the design tools of their Unreal Engine 4.
Donald Mustard, the creative director of Epic Games, told the following to GamesBeat in an interview:
"This started with a little team within Epic that had a core idea for a cool gameplay loop we never saw before," Mustard stated. "The team developed that loop and added cool role-playing game meta mechanics. It's got a 1980s Saturday morning cartoon intro that brings you into this awesome world."
Mustard then proceeds to explain the premise of the game as players will have to defend the virtual world from monster attacks. Players are tasked to free all the heroes, and even friendly monsters, trapped by a Crystal Overlord which ultimately leads to taking back the planet.
In the game, players will be recruiting and building their very own team. Characters number in by the hundreds to allow for many unique team combinations.
Monsters will come from space and will try to infest every corner of the game's world. Players will use their chosen teams to fend off the attacks in areas including lava fields, ancient forests, ice sheets, and steep mountains.
The game requires players to master the elements and think up strategies to properly defeat incoming enemies. Smashing crystals on the fields unlock hidden treasures that can help turn the tide of the battle to the players' favor.
In the meantime, interested Android players can register now through the game's Google Play page to receive an exclusive in-game hero.
