"Pokemon Go" is slated to receive three additional major updates in 2017. These three major updates come in addition to the Generation 2 update that added over 80 new Pokemon for players to catch.
"Pokemon Go" is a free-to-play, location-based augmented reality game developed by Niantic for iOS and Android devices. "Pokémon Go" was released to mixed reviews, with critics praising the game's concept and the incentive to be more active in the real world while criticizing frequent technical issues.

The release of the next generation of Pokemon, plus tweaks to the game's mechanics quickly put "Pokemon Go" back on the map, bringing back the fever and the fervor that surrounded its release last year. That was just a few weeks ago, and it seems that developers Niantic Labs is not about to slow down. At GDC 2017, CEO John Hanke hinted that there are three major updates awaiting fans this year. Naturally, it sent the Internet on a speculation spree about what these three updates could bring.

He also revealed that players have logged 5.4 million miles of movement in the app, and 88 billion Pokemon have been captured, although most had been turned into candy. Hanke further mentioned that 44 petabytes of mobile data have been downloaded while playing.
