The HydrogenOS flavored update brought improvements to the Gallery such as new image editor with ability to add watermark, hiding option and more. The same improvement is also available on Android 7.1.1 Nougat update. Also, it also brings new features such as the New Shot on Wallpaper feature. It allows users to switch between new wallpapers on daily basis.
The update also features general bug fixes. The HydrogenOS update features Android security update for March month. The changelog of the OxygenOS update does not mention any information on Android security patch.
In order to get the open beta update, OnePlus 3 and 3T users are required to first register with Nougat beta program. OnePlus 3 users can register here and 3T owners can apply here. The open Beta update can be flashed on the smartphone or it can be installed when OTA update notification arrives.
One should be aware of the fact that the update contains a few bugs. If the Android Pay does not function properly on London TFL/Tube after installing the update, users are required to install the updated app through Google Play Store. OnePlus has also confirmed that users may come across compatibility problems with certain third party apps, which have not been listed, Phone Arena reported.
OnePlus 2 users are still running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow skinned with OxygenOS. There is no confirmation on when the Nougat update will be released to its users. However, speculations indicate that the update would probably arrive within this month or in the next quarter.
The Snapdragon 801 SoC powering OnePlus and OnePlus X does not support graphics driver of Nougat OS. Hence, these phones are unlikely to receive the software update.
