Doctor Fate is a superhero or rather, a title that has been bestowed to a number of different characters over the years, whos is a powerful magic user that has a variety of ranged magical attacks at his disposal. As seen in the Injustice 2" trailer, Doctor Fate battles the likes of Superman, Cyborg and Atrocitus and has a super move that sees him transport his opponent to another dimension for a vicious beatdown.
Unlike most DC heroes, Doctor Fate has a more passive approuch and his presence will be needed if the circumstances are dire. However, the comic prequel from "Injustice: Gods Among Us" featured him being an ally of Batman and with his powers enabling to hurt Superman, it is plausible that Doctor Fate still remains an ally of the Dark Knight now that Superman wants to revive the Regime in "Injustice 2".
Meanwhile, NetherRealm Studios also teased new details for "Injustice 2's" Gear System as the developers told Polygon that there will be more items that will augment the abilities of each DC character aside from armor sets.
These include new visual effects or new animations for special attacks for each character. It can also provide increases to experience gained or the amount of in-game currency earned with each fight.
Accessory slots are particularly powerful in "Injustice 2", and can dramatically change how characters fight. For instance Batman's utility belt or Swamp Thing's club can be change into different weapons to form variants of their skill sets.
NetherRealm Studios added new components to the Gear System called "Shaders", which allows players to change the color palette of each character in "Injustice 2". The final feature of the Gear System is called "Abilities", which will add new or modified special attacks for every character.
Lastly, game producer Ed Boon teased that "Injustice 2" could have a Tournament mode that will disable the equipment of each DC character, as several players are worried that the Gear System will be a disadvantage to gamers who are new to the game.
Boon also added that there will not be any gear sold as DLC, and that online play will allow players to choose opponents that either use or do not have any gear. NetherRealm Studious could likely add it and it will be played out similar to to 2009's "Mortal Kombat" reboot title which was first hinted in the "Injustice 2" FAQ , EventHubs reported.
"Injustice 2" will launch on May 16 for the PS4 and Xbox One.
