And from persistent rumors and leaked details that emerged so far, the following Galaxy S7 specs and features are likely to unbox with the device:

3 versions

Samsung is said unpack the Galaxy S6 sequel in 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch models that will be called the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge respectively. However, gadget leaker Evan Blass or @evleaks is making a bold claim that the S7 Edge actually packs a 5.1-inch screen but with curved display.

Blass insists that a third build will sport a 5.5-inch display and will unbox as the Galaxy S7 Edge Plus.

Galaxy S6 twins

In terms of build and design, the S7 and S7 Edge are the exact twins of their predecessors but with notable changes. Among these revisions is the reintroduction of the microSD slot that could accommodate up 200GB of extra memory.

New and old things

Also making a comeback is the waterproofing features that Samsung first integrated with the Galaxy S5 and mysteriously abandoned come the S6 rollout. With the S7 incarnation as well, the South Korean is said to adopt a new connectivity standard - that is USB-C that promises superfast data transfer/sharing and quick wireless charging.

Samsung's new flagship is reported too to include a 3D Touch-like feature seen with the iPhone 6 and 6S plus a new biometric feature called retina scanner to go with the fingerprint reader that the Galaxy S6 had unboxed with.

Upgrades and downgrades

Blass also claimed that the S7 is assured of higher energy juice supply thanks to a 3000mAh battery pack, which a significant leap from the last version. However, a bit of a slide will be seen on the camera department as the Galaxy S7 main shooter is said to be equipped with a 12-megapixel lens coming from the 16MP on the Galaxy S6.

Buyer-friendly starting price

While the Galaxy S7 and all its variants will certainly not come cheap, Samsung is said to lure in more buyers by shaving off the handset's sticker price. The Galaxy S7 basic model on release date will reportedly sell for $600 or $50 cheaper from the 2016 version.
