The "Verdun" video game will be arriving on Xbox One on Wednesday, March 8, following its successful release on PlayStation and PC. Although it is not as successful as "Battlefield 1," this multiplayer shooter game offers similar excitement and adventure.
"Verdun" may lack the hype of other World War I inspired games, but the developer and publisher, M2H and Blackmill Games, have ensured gamers would enjoy the experience. Apart from the technical advancements in the Xbox One "Verdun" release, gamers may also feast on the historically accurate World War I weapons, authentic uniforms, and equipment.

This upcoming Xbox One release was inspired by true events in the 1916 Battle of Verdun in France, where the French defended their territory against the invading Germans. The place of Verdun was strategically selected by the Germans because of its rich political history. It was the last to fall during France's humiliating defeat in 1870-71's Franco-Prussian War.
The Battle of Verdun was a battle of attrition viewed from the German perspective. German General Erich von Falkenhayn was convinced that the war in such place would only be won by inflicting mass casualties on the French army. Falkenhayn in his memo wrote a grim message saying that "the forces of France will bleed to death."
Similar to its historical origin, the "Verdun" video game will lead gamers to thrust into the bloodiest battles along the Western front, according to The Nerd Stash. Gamers would have to outmaneuver their opponents as they venture into long years of stalemates in Western Europe, through a series of trench warfare and artillery bombardment.
This particular video game has become a favorite of critics and gamers alike for it is the first multiplayer FPS set in a realistic World War I setting. During the game, players can explore four different game modes; the Frontlines, Attrition, Rifle Deathmatch, and Squad Defense.
