Records show that porn sites have more visitors than Amazon, Twitter, and Netflix combined. A new study shows that not all people who watch porn are the same. Instead, porn viewers can be divided into three different groups. Unfortunately, only one group can be considered healthy.
The study, which was published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, suggests that porn viewers could be split into the recreational, the distressed, and the compulsive.
Those porn watchers who are included in the recreational group consist of 75 percent of the total participants. This group can watch an average of 24 minutes of porn every week. Surprisingly, the 75 percent is largely made up of women as well as those who are in relationships.
On the other hand, the distressed group is only 13.2 percent. People who belong to the group watch an average of 17 minutes of porn every week. Of course, as the name suggest, their porn habit is associates with emotional distress.
Finally, making only 11.8 percent of the total participants, the compulsive group is the smallest group. They watch an average of 110 minutes of porn every week.
According to Medical Daily, the only group that is healthy is the recreational group, while the two smaller subgroups may suffer from the problem the porn creates.
