Apple's 10th year anniversary iPhone release this 2017, tipped to be called the iPhone 8, is said to sport a screaming OLED display panel that measures diagonally at 5.8-inch and will sell over $1000 a pop. But a new rumors claims the next iPhone will skip the OLED panel, the screen only at 5-inch and will still cost more than a thousand bucks.

The latest specs revelation, according to WCCFTech, was courtesy of Apple-focused blog site MacOtakara. The Japanese blog said that the despite the torrent of rumors depicting the iPhone 8 as the biggest model jump since the iPhone 6 in 2014, only a handful of supposed feature upgrades have been confirmed so far.
Sure, the display will be upsized but from the regular edition's 4.7-inch the screen will only be stretched 5-inch. Also part of the upgrade deal is a dual camera setting on the main shooter, USB Type C port to replace the Lightning connectivity and wireless charging.
But the report stated that OLED will remain absent once the iPhone 8 is rolled out. No explanation on the skip was offered but the claim appears to align with the recent supply chain rumors that indicate OLED on the iPhone will not happen until 2019, and by that time all iPhone models will have material first popularized by Samsung Galaxy flagship phones.
Even without OLED, WCCFTech said the iPhone will remain special as it will be the perfect device to be paired with the $10,000 Apple Watch. How exactly the pairing with Apple's pricey smartwatch will make the next iPhone special, the MacOtakara report did not elaborate on.
In fact, Apple is unlikely to use iPhone 8 as the release label for the device as BGR reported that the handset will likely end up as the iPhone Edition. And the device release date could be pushed from September to the closing months of 2017, possibly due to expected delays in mass production that reportedly will only commence in September.
