Game director Tetsuya Nomura has dished fresh interesting development details regarding "Kingdom Hearts 3" gameplay post his appeareance at MAGIC 2017 in Monaco last month. This time, he's more specific to reveal more about the latest screenshot and discuss about keyblade transformation.
In an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, as reported by Gematsu, Nomura was first asked about the gigantic heartless that Sora is fighting. He said that it is called "Rock Troll".

He was further quizzed on the battle scene in the city of Thebes in Olympus and asked if fighting a mammoth Heartless is a boss battle. Nomura said that the battle scene against the Rock Troll is viewed as a mid-boss fight in "Kingdom Hearts 3".
Furthermore, the magazine went on to talk with the game director about the shield that Sora is wielding in his right hand in the new image. Apparently, in "Kingdom Hearts 3", gamers will see two special transformation patterns of the keyblades, which basically depend on what they need at some specific time.
"The Keyblades we're currently making have two transformation patterns. It should be noted that similar to the Keyblade that transforms into a tank and shield that we showed this time, there is not always a division of attack and defense", Nomura explained.
However, there's one particular question that Nomura declined to answer during the interview. If one has to look closely at the screen, it indicates a "Link" function. When asked about it, Nomura said with a laugh that he will explain this information in the future.
"Kingdom Hearts 3" has no official release date as of yet and fans are still on lookout on any hint from Square Enix on when they'll get hands on the upcoming RPG. This March, the franchise is celebrating its 15th anniversary with the release of "Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix on PS4 come March 28.
