The Samsung Pay on non-flagship phones may have more limitations than the current gen phones. The company aims to extend its services to non-flagship phone users as part of their mission to get a larger market share when it comes to online payment. Samsung’s Galaxy J is expected to receive the Samsung Pay service in a few months, but the company is also eyeing India as its first region to experience the service.
The limitations mentioned include the security options for the Samsung Pay on non-flagship phones. For example, while the Samsung Pay on current gen phones can be secured by the user’s fingerprint, entry levels are only protected by a PIN. This is brought by the lack of fingerprint feature on the phone.
Moreover, According to the AndroidHeadlines, Samsung is capitalizing on India’s current crisis with cash flow after the sudden demonetization of banknotes in the country. India’s on the verge of using online payments to able to smoothly transact without worrying about and the eligibility of the banknote.
Meanwhile, Samsung Pay has also expanded to other regions and recently to Thailand. Currently, the Samsung Pay is being supported by Galaxy S7 family, Galaxy S6 family, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 running on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Samsung Pay competes against the other tech giant companies online payment services mainly Apple Pay and Android Pay. Samsung’s online payment services subtly runs in India and the company hopes to expand once the non-flagship phones are able to get the feature.
