FBI: NFL Doctors Conspired to Break Federal Drug Laws
A federal lawsuit was filed by former players against the National Football League (NFL) for violating federal laws on prescription drugs in peddling powerful painkillers and anti-inflammatories to players.
The NFL did not seek the guidance from the Drug Enforcement Administration on how to store, transport, track, and distribute controlled substances. According to sealed court documents, these powerful painkillers and anti-inflammatories were plied to their players each season.

It further shows how drugs are used by the team in order to keep the players on the field despite of the bruising sport. According to CNN, this culture disregards not just the safety of the players, but as well as the federal guidance on handling painkillers and narcotics.
The documents revealed were just part of the amended complaint. Initially, a complaint was filed in 2015 with more than 1,800 former players as plaintiffs according to The Washington Post. The facts were gathered during the modes of discovery.
The pleading alleges the negligence of doctors and trainers in supplying anti-inflammatory and narcotics painkillers to keep players on the field. The complaint further states that players are not given enough knowledge with regard to the long term effect of these controlled substances. The 32 teams alleged that these painkillers are given to them without their knowledge, or if with their knowledge, without any warning about the side effects.
One of the plaintiffs, the widow of former Baltimore Raven Charles Evans, Etopia Evans, gave her deposition stating that she once seen an unlabeled envelope full of Motrin and Percocet given to her husband by the team's trainers during the Baltimore club. When he retired in 2001, he became addicted to painkillers that he continuously uses these from the Ravens trainer.
