A new source claims that "Assassin's Creed Empire" will not take place in Ancient Egypt but in Classical Greece.
A new "Assassin's Creed" game unofficially dubbed as "Assassin's Creed: Empire" maybe well underway for 2017 release. That is, if Ubisoft sticks to its plan to release the new title for the series this year.
As the first quarter of the year draws to a close, many hope that Ubisoft will be ready to officially announce the new entry to the AC series. Notably, the game publish decided to change course from the franchise's annual release pattern when it didn't release an AC title in 2016.

Fans can recall that the last title, "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate" was announced in May 2015, five months before the game hit the store shelves in October of that year. In the absence of official details, lots of speculations have made the rounds online with regard to its gameplay.
The last one even shared a leaked image that indicated Ancient Egypt as next location. However, Cinema Blend reports that a source who asked to remain anonymous has offered a new info that refutes this claim.
According to the unnamed tipster who is said to be a reliable source, "Assassin's Creed: Empire" will take place not in Egypt but in classical Greece. The report noted that this possibility doesn't sound a far-fetched idea, given that Greece is geographically close to Egypt and that the two cultures fused at some point in history.
It also sounds plausible that the upcoming game will feature both Ancient Egypt and Greece or even expand to Rome at the time of great ruler Alexander the Great. Fans know that various large cities have been shown as multiple locations in the past titles and same could be true for "Assassin's Creed: Empire".
Last year, Kotaku reported that "Empire" will serve as the first of a new trilogy, in which the second and third games will be set in subsequently in Greece or Rome. However, nothing is set in stone as of yet.
Apparently, Ubisoft has been pretty much mum about the speculations involving the game's release. But if and when it follows the same release pattern, "Assassin's Creed: Empire" will likely be announced somewhere around April toward E3 2017, in time for launch by late 2017.
