New updates for "The Last of Us 2" will focus on Ellie's revenge and theories over her pregnancy rumors in the sequel.

Several rumors are making rounds regarding the possible storyline for "The Last of Us 2" as a IMDB links claim that both Joel and Ellie's pasts will be explored and something dark about both characters will play a vital part of the plot.

This plot however, slightly in contrast with the popular theory that Joel will be dead in "The Last of Us 2" and that Ellie is simply imagining his presence within the story. Ever since, the release of "The Last of Us 2" teaser during the PlayStation Experience event last year, gaming fans have been asking if Joel is indeed dead in the sequel.

Reddit username nerveonya claim in a post that "The Last of Us 2" will star Ellie and Joel's death could play a vital role in her journey throughout the game. Some gamers have taken to examining the exact phrasing in "The Last of Us 2" trailer, and claim Joel’s words hint as his departure.

Joel's line to Ellie “you really going to go through with this?” The fact that he does not say “we” is notable. After the events of "The Last of Us," there is no doubt Joel would be hesitant to let Ellie do anything alone, especially when it involves taking on the Fireflies in the game.

Gamers also point out that Ellie's drive to take on the Fireflies could the death ot Joel, similar how the latter was motivated to help Ellie in the first game, Gamerant reported.

Meanwhile, new theories on Ellie's rumored pregnancy in "The Last of Us 2" have been revealed.

Previous reports pointed out that Ellie could be pregnant before the events of the sequel. Gaming fans pointed out that an Easter Egg for the game was found in "Uncharted 4," comes in the form of a pregnant woman wearing a gas mask that hid her face.

Fans argued that the woman could be an older version of Ellie, while others claim that this cannot be the case, as Ellie is immune to the virus that plagued the world.

There is also the indication that Ellie is gay in "The Last of Us" story, which in itself, already minimizes the possibility that she conceived, VideoGameRepublic reported

On the other hand, there are also other ways that Ellie could have been pregnant by other means. Specifically, she could have done voluntary insemination to ensure the continuation of humanity, or Ellie may have also been impregnated against her will.

There is no release date yet for "The Last of Us 2" on the PlayStation 4.
