AMD is rumored to be working on a Ryzen CPU in 16-core/32-thread model that will still be part of the original Zen architecture. The chip is set to be finalized soon with the likely release date happening in the next few months.

Picking up on the rumor first published by Overclock3d, WCCFTech reported that AMD could soon unleash the 16-core/32-thread Ryzen chip via the Computex. The latest information, which the report said remains unconfirmed, indicated of a CPU release that is designed for the HEDT platform.

Overclock3d claimed the Ryzen 16-core/32-thread CPU is AMD's direct answer to Intel's Xeon and 6950X offerings and will be based on LGA or X399 socket. Notably, the new chip will be free of the gaming issues that have been plaguing the Ryzen AM4 CPU, the report added.

As the most premium of the Ryzen CPU lineup, the 16-core/32-thread chip will go against the priciest of Intel's roster but will be significantly cheaper. While the 6950X and Xeon CPUs sell for up to $1800, AMD will keep its most powerful Ryzen chip at around $1000, the report claimed.

Introduction of the Ryzen chip and possibly immediate availability will happen "in a couple of months," the report said.

According to WCCFTech, if the rumor will prove accurate then the Ryzen chip mentioned could be part of AMD's Naples server CPU, which is believed "to be rocking Zen in 32 core flavors." The same is said to support data processing speed of 100GBPS with the latency reduced from 500ns to a considerably lower number.

WCCFTech also noted on its report that AMD rolling out a beastly Ryzen chip with 16 cores is not impossible, thanks to the company's build philosophy the report described as Lego-inspired or the use of multi-chip module (MCM) format.

However, the same report pointed to one suspect detail - that the upcoming monster Ryzen CPU is LGA-based. WCCFTech is more inclined to believe that the 16-core/32-thread Ryzen will debut with an overhauled socket that is called X399, which should be an easy undertaking for AMD.
