NetherRealm Studios has introduced a new currency called Source Crystals to "Injustice 2" that can be used to buy characters' cosmetic features in the game. It can be purchased using a real-world money.

This new in-game currency can be spent on cosmetic features, particularly on the Transform Gear feature, Premiere Skins, and shaders for existing skins. While Source Crystals can be bought using real-world money, players cannot "pay to win," WB announced via the game's official forum website.

This means that this will not help the player to make progress or advance in the game and will make no gameplay advantage. One of uses of this new "Injustice 2" in-game currency is the Transform Gear that can be used with Source Crystals, allowing players to apply the appearance of a piece of Gear to another piece.

For instance, if a player has a piece of Gear with a perfect stat loadout and he wants to change it to the "perfect look" look he preferred, He can apply to it the visuals from one of the other pieces of Gears. With the use of Transform Gear, that Gear piece will have the players' preferred stats and matched with the visuals of his own choice.

Another use is the Character Shaders, which offer players different choices of color combinations for their character Gear, changing their looks from top to bottom. Players can change their Supergirl character into Powergirl, for example.

But the stats and the power of the new Powergirl will still be based on the Gear equipment that players have earned through playing the game. "The Premiere Skin change is only visual," WB emphasized.

Finally, Source Crystals can help players save more time. For instance, when a character is leveled up to Level 20, players can use this currency to level up the other characters to 20 in "Injustice 2". Again, this is just optional and will not affect the gameplay or the progression of the game.
