There will be no delays on Apple's iPhone 8 2017 release date plans. Three new models will come out as early as September this year but the most premium variant, dubbed as iPhone Pro Edition, like the Jet Black iPhone 7 of 2016 will be hard to find.

The next iPhone release will produce the regular iPhone 7S, the upsized iPhone 7S Plus and the supposedly redesigned iPhone 8, which according to MacRumors was labeled in a new Barclays research note as the iPhone Pro. The latter will be introduced and made available with Apple following their usual release calendar, meaning availability of the upgraded handsets could start September 2017.

"All three devices ... will be launched in the normal September timeframe," MacRumors quoted the Barclays report as saying. But the same story also noted one model could be hampered by supply issues.

The rumored iPhone 8, which Barclays called the iPhone Pro, will debut with the 7S/7S Plus but likely in limited quantity. "The majority of iPhone Pro volumes may not be available until Q4," the report said.

Apple unable to provide sufficient units of the iPhone 8 immediately following its release is likely due to the device's use of OLED display, Barclay said on its report. This echoed the earlier claim made by KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo that with OLED as part of the iPhone 8 supply chain the device will only commence mass production in early September.

Kuo's projection is in line with Barclays' forecast that ramped production of the iPhone Pro will only happen in the last quarter of 2017, hence the bulk of the units could only be shipped out in the same period.

The latest note from Barclays likewise confirmed that the iPhone 8 or iPhone Pro will have a 5.8-inch display but only with 5.15-inch of usable screen real estate. The device will also boast of Touch ID fingerprint sensor that is embedded on the screen, 3D sensor module, film-based Force Touch functions, dual camera and wireless charging.

In a related report, WCCFTech said the next iPhone will make use stainless chassis and all-glass build, meaning the front and rear will be made of glass material, which will be the case for the iPhone 8. The other models will employ aluminum for the framing, likely to keep the manufacturing cost at a minimum.

That should indicate on release date, it is the iPhone 8 or iPhone Pro that will carry a more premium sticker price, rumored to be $1000+ per unit, which was prompted by Apple's decision to increase the iPhone 8's average selling price (ASP), the same report said.
