Disappointing sales in 2015 has woken up Xiaomi, China's top performing consumer electronics company, who has declared that it shall fight back in 2016.

Tech in Asia reported that Xiaomi had clinched the No. 1 spot in China's smartphone market in 2014; however, 2015 was a disappointing year for Xiaomi. Forbes attributes that intense competition from rival Huawei Technologies, changing taste and slow market may be some reasons why Xiaomi had missed its target of 100 million last year.

It had managed to sell only around 70 million phones in 2015, which was a huge let down for a start-up valued above $45 million in 2014. Xiaomi also faced quality concerns for its home devices, especially its smart air filter.

Xiaomi, however, plans to make a strong come-back in 2016. Reuters reported that Xiaomi shall be focusing on its offline sales this year. It intends to double the number of handsets sold offline in China in 2016 than what was sold offline in 2015.

Furthermore, Xiaomi shall also concentrate on expanding its offline sales channels. These include both Xiaomi's Mi Home stores and third party distributors like Suning retail chain. Reports mentioned that Xiaomi is likely to introduce twenty or thirty new products within next ten years; however, the focus now is on quality of products and customer satisfaction.

In an interview to Sina Tech, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun mentioned that the company shall be focusing on their product quality and minimize stress over business competition in 2016.

Lei Jun mentioned that pressure of being No.1 had got to them, and maybe responsible for their dismal performance last year. "We need to firmly create excellent user experience and product," Lei Jun added. In his interview, he also mentioned that their company would behave like a start-up and introduce more products that guarantee quality at low and affordable prices.
