This week, NASA has launched a new online library featuring breathtaking space photos. This library is not only limited to photos, but there are also videos and audio clips in this collection, which is accessible to the public.

These amazing images and videos can be found at the NASA Image and Video Library on http://images.nasa.gov.  The site hosts multiple space images from 60 different collections across NASA sites. They have been consolidated in one location for easier browsing and searching.

NASA officials say that the main goal of the NASA Image and Video Library is to allow users to search and discover a treasure trove of 140,000 NASA images, video and audio files. Users can download this media from the space agency's numerous missions and research regarding astrophysics, Earth science, human spaceflight and more.

Also, users can also browse the newest uploads from NASA and even uncover historic missions and most popular images, audio clips, and videos. Another great feature is that NASA will allow their images to be embedded in websites. This will also include important data with date, description, and keywords.

Other features also include automatic scaling that will instantly become viewer-friendly to smartphones and tablets. Important details such as EXIF and camera data will also be indicated with exposure and lens if this is available based on the original image. 

This new NASA archive is the most complete database for all of the space agency's imagery. Rather, the space agency wants to present a curated showcase the best that the space agency has to offer, also providing a glimpse to the cosmos.

NASA officials say that despite the library not being comprehensive, this is the best that NASA can make publicly available by consolidating to a single location online for easier access. The website will also be regularly updated with new and archival imagery including video and audio files.
