China faced series of controversies, and their stock market seem to be unstable over the past years. Despite those statuses, Qualcomm still pursued its venture with the new semiconductor company in one of China's provinces.

Guizhou Huaxintong Semiconductor Technology is the latest target of Qualcomm in China. Qualcomm will administer research support and chip technology licenses to the collaboration with Guizhou Province government, with an initial contribution of $280 million or 1.85 billion RMB. Both parties agreed on having 55-45 distribution of shares, 55 percent for the Chinese government and 45 percent to Qualcomm. This business agreement by Qualcomm could affect Intel negatively, and would help Qualcomm's chip design provider ARM Holdings, reported by NASDAQ.

It can be noted that MediaTek was greatly affected by Qualcomm's shares in the market in wireless modems and mobile application processors in the past year. Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor did not help them a lot because quite a few major smartphone manufacturers opted to develop their own processor, instead of purchasing from Qualcomm. With all these unpleasant circumstances, Qualcomm ventured into other markets like chips for cameras, drones, cars and other internet-operated devices. Qualcomm's interest was drawn by the data-center market, which Intel has already established its name, added by Fool.

In other news, Investopedia reported that Qualcomm is beginning to introduce 24-core CPU, which will use custom ARM cores. One of the new markets that Qualcomm is eyeing is the server CPU market. The "tier-1 data centers" is one of the samples that Qualcomm is working on, as these are the types that huge web-based companies in the world are using. Although Qualcomm have yet to announce their official launch, Qualcomm made a statement that the data center chips they are producing will be viable both in price and performance aspects with Intel's future and present chips. Apart from MediaTek, Rockchip is also one of the competitions that Qualcomm has to face in mobile and tablet chips industry.

Based from an October research, Qualcomm's sampling of their latest data center chips caught Intel's investors' attention, which affected the latter's stock exchange after the announcement, Seeking Alpha reported.
